We didn't want it to be as prim and manicured as a formal English garden, not as rustic as a sprawling farm.
We wanted our special day to be nestled in diverse foli Being from NYC, our dreams felt way out of reach after visiting incredibly expensive venues in the tri-state area. After digging through hundreds of search results and dozens of listicles Brooke happened upon photos of Dunaway and we decided to take the chance of making a weekend visit to Atlanta to see if the shoe would fit.
Thankfully it did! Even though our initial visit took place during a rainy weekend, Dunaway's beauty is absolutely unparalleled. After driving about 30 minutes outside of Atlanta proper through rural roads, when you arrive at Dunaway's front gates it truly feels as if you are stepping into a fairytale kingdom. Elizabeth is knowledgeable, professional, creative, and works tirelessly to help you create exactly the wedding you are envisioning.
We decided to hire her as our day-of coordinator and would highly recommend it to any couples getting married at Dunaway or elsewhere in Atlanta.
The most amazing part about Dunaway and something that's hard to communicate through photos alone--you really have to go visit is that it's a huge property with many amazing settings that can be used in a multitude of combinations for both your ceremony and reception.
Our guests were enamoured by the natural beauty of the gardens and gushed about how they felt like they were in a different world. I plan events for a living and vendors are everything when it comes to pulling off a successful event - I never take a good vendor for granted.
To top it all off, we had gorgeous weather on the wedding day. All of our guests were completely enamored by the scenery, beauty, and vibe of the venue. So much love was shared that day and I owe a lot of those memories to this venue. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting a romantic-style wedding. You can do so much with this venue and really execute any vision you could imagine with everything they offer!
All in all, I could not have wanted or asked for more from this venue. I feel incredibly blessed to have spent one of the most special days in my life at Dunaway Gardens. My experience at Dunaway was great.
The venue is gorgeous and is hard to beat. The cottage to get ready in was darling and felt straight out of a Jane Austen novel. The staff was friendly and helpful and made sure everything ran smoothly day of The base fee just covers the venue, leaving chairs, tables, alcohol and golf cart rentals all as additional fees BUT it was such a perfect place, I opted for a Monday wedding to save money there. They did recently tear down the tents which were in the woods and replaced it with a larger climate controlled structure.
While this threw my for a loop when I was told my venue was changing halfway through my engagement, it is a nice structure with beautiful lighting. Overall, this venue is hard to beat. It is simply out of a dream and will impress your guests from the moment they drive through the gates! We originally planned our wedding for the fall of When COVID became a more serious issue as the year went on, we decided to postpone our wedding gi After explaining our situation on the phone to someone at Dunaway, we received an email from the owner telling us that they were not postponing weddings and adhering to CDC guidelines.
I asked the owner if we could discuss the situation over the phone but she refused and I spent an hour writing a six paragraph email detailing why we felt more comfortable postponing. Her response: CDC guidelines. It simply deteriorated after this. We felt cheated and trapped by our contract.
We have decided to take our business elsewhere, despite losing all of the money we invested into this awful venue. I have never dealt with such unprofessionalism, such a lack of compassion in the midst of an unfortunate circumstance like the pandemic. While our other vendors have been amazing and supportive, the owner of this venue has vowed to put her business before the safety and wellbeing of her clients and their family members.
She has done this to other brides as well. How shameful. Thank you, Dunaway, for ruining this for us. Getting married at Dunaway Gardens was an absolute dream. From the moment we drove through the gate, we knew this was where we would get married. The grounds are so beautiful and so unique. Our wedding guests could not get over how stunning the It was truly a magical day in large part to the scenery.
The team at Dunaway Gardens was wonderful to work with. They were communicative and patient with all of our questions and kept things running smoothly the day of the wedding. I also can verify that it is handicap accessible, as my father is in a wheelchair and was able to access the ceremony site and reception tents. It was the perfect venue for our wedding! The venue is a beautiful place to be married. It is difficult for the elderly. They do have golf carts but they were not available after the ceremony on the lower level.
I suggest to hire a wedding coordinator to help with the wedding day to If bride and groom do not want to see each other before wedding there is not really a good place for the groom and groomsmen to go especially if photographer is with the bride. Elizabeth was not as helpful as I thought she could have been and made a few decisions on her on without talking to the family, the staff had an attitude with several of the guest.
